Why I am qualified to teach
American Heritage |
This is a badge that is near and dear to my heart based on my own heritage. My family's American Heritage runs deep, in fact it runs to pre-recorded American History. My 12th great-grandmother is Rebecca Rolfe, who was also known as Pocahontas, daughter of The Great Chief Powhatan. I have family history in nearly evry level of government in the United States...and abroad for that matter. My family has had someone fight in every American War from the Revolutionary War to Operation Desert Storm. My family is also very involved in modern politics as well as historical politics, including my own appointment as an Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the North Carolina House of Representatives. This is a really fun badge...I look forward to working with you on it! |

Prerequisites for this Activity |
If you are attending a Merit Badge Clinic...please do the following before the clinic:
- Read the Constitution of The United States
- If you are planning to do one of the requirements that asks you to interview individuals (such as 2 veterans or 3 community members) have this done prior to attending. I can be interviewed as US Navy Veteran or a member of the community if you reside in the area.
- Research your family's history. Find out how various events and situations in American history affected your family. If your family immigrated to America, tell the reasons why.
- Select a topic that is currently in the news for discussion...please make sure the topic is appropriate for younger scouts to participate in.
- Come ready to have fun!!
